Plush Fantasy Stuffed Animals
Unicorns, Pegasus, and dragons are all part of mythical worlds that have long been depicted in books and movies. Because they’re so popular, these three animals have been replicated into fantasy plush toys.
Fantasy plush are both a fascinating and engaging way to get a child to use their imagination to its utmost capacity. Take for example, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy, the four children in C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe; they are mysteriously transported through a wardrobe to Narnia, a world of magic where humans don’t exist. Instead, Narnia is chalk full of animals (some ‘traditional’ like beavers and lions) and others that can be categorized as fantasy (like centaurs and minotaurs). With fantasy plush like unicorns, Pegasus, and dragons, children can dream up worlds just like Narnia where any amount of adventure is within the realm of possibility.
Not to be mistaken with unicorns, Pegasus is a winged horse found in Greek mythology. He is created out of a cloud by the Greek God Zeus and is most well known to children as Hercules’ constant companion. Unicorns, on the other hand, are not found in Greek mythology and don’t have wings. While both are part of fantasy lore, they are both known as horses that follow the path of good rather than evil. Dragon’s, however, are rarely depicted as ‘good’ animals, no matter what fantastic story they appear in. There are a few exceptions, of course (like Puff the Magic Dragon) and the more current: Dreamworks’ Shrek, where Dragon starts out as a fire-breathing, ferocious guard of a castle in which Princess Fiona is kept prisoner. While Dragon begins the story as a bad guy (or gal as it turns out – Dragon is female!), she ends up as one of the unlikely hero’s.
With fantasy plush, children will know no bounds when it comes to what they choose to do with unicorns, Pegasus and dragons. Perhaps they can all be good (or all bad), or even a mix of the two. These three animals may become part of a child’s creative mind in which they are all dropped into a world that is completely foreign to all of them – from the flora to the fauna to the surroundings. It may even be a fantastical world that is somehow connected to our world in some way, but with lots of fantasy plush unicorns, Pegasus and dragons as part of the scenery. The possibilities are endless!
When looking for the next plush toy for your child, fantasy plush unicorns, Pegasus and dragons offer something a little different from an ‘everyday’ teddy bear. While they are just as huggable as any teddy bear, fantasy plush can transport a child to places they have only read about in books or seen in the movies. And who knows, maybe teddy bear will go along for the ride too!
